Dial 10" square brass dial with finely matted dial centre, "floating" half hour markers to chapter ring,Blued cut steel single hand. Movement Good quality 30 hour "birdcage" movement with turned brass pillars.Hourly ( countwheel ) striking on a single bell. Maker John Wilkins of Marlborough is recorded as acting as a bondsman on a marriage licence in 1757 where he is described as a "Watchmaker" which, at the time, was regarded in higher esteem than a clockmaker.He is recorded as late as 1790.
