FRENCH BAROMETER A French Barometer with a mahogany-veneered case, c. 1800. The barometer is provided with a Toricelli tube with large reservoir - typical of French barometers for the purpose of a greater accuracy - and a mercury thermometer. The atmospheric pressure and the temperature are indicated on large silvered brass register plates. The barometer is signed by the maker as follows: BAROMETRE Simple Par harang Palais Royal The air pressure is indicated in French inches (26-30), while the temperature is shown in Centigrade. The barometer scale also indicates the weather conditions. Furthermore, it is provided with a gilt brass vernier scale for accurate reading. The barometer is in excellent condition Price: on request |
