A superb Italian Neo-classical giltwood console with rectangular marble top above a stepped Vitruvian scroll border and frieze with egg and dart band, centred by a medallion cartouche with a reclining classical male figure between floral and foliate scrolls within a panelled border and flanked either side by fluted pillasters, with hanging berried laurel swag below, above acanthus wrapped square tapering panelled legs, joined by an X-shaped stretcher centred by a two-handled covered urn with foliate swag, on turned feet Rome, date circa 1785 Height 93 cm, width 84 cm, depth 43 cm. |
