Eight day pillar movement with verge escapement and quarter striking on three surmounted bells. Engraved brass dial with Roman chapters with the shutters below signed Morell A Morbier.

Sober austerity
The Morbier clock, named after the town they were first made, lies at the beginning of the tradition of clock making that would lead to the famous Comtoise clocks. Not only appealing to connoisseurs because of their well made hand crafted movements but also by others because of their austere and sober appearance that fit well in many interiors. Morbier clocks in themselves are fairly rare and finding one untouched is considered a trophy to us. Never had we seen such a large example. The quarter striking, signature and originality together complement the qualities of this rare find.
