A fine Empire silver ewer and basin by Marc Jacquart, the ewer of oviform body engmved with stiff leaves and a laurel band and bearing a coat of arms, the curved handle with applied winged dolphin head the cover surmounted by a seated swan, supported on a trumpet-shaped foot. The circular ewer with chased beaded band, bearing a coat of arms and inner laurel band
Paris, date cinra 1805
The ewer: height 37 cm. The basin: height 8 cm, diameter 30 cm. The Parisian silversmith, Marc Jacquart specialized in elegant large-scale domestic silver for the tahle. He made his first mark in 1798 and another in 1809 and was based at rue du Petit-Pont and then by 1806 at rue Saint-Honore Hôtel d'Aligre.
