Gold, diamond and plique a jour brooch in the form of a classical vase, signed L. Gautrait,ca. 1900-1905.
After 1900 Léopold Gautrait abandoned Art Nouveau, the jewels are noticeable Neo-Classical in style, showing the influence of French ormolu furniture mounts of the second half of the 18th century with garlands and ribbons.
Our piece is from this transitional period which is very hard to find.
