Sculptuur pendule, de glorie van Napoleon op zijn steigerend paard, de Capitulatie van Ulm,  Louis Philippe ca. 1850.

Een klok toont een sculptuur van Napoleon, zittend op zijn verzilverd paard en  symboliseert zijn overwinning in 1805 tijdens de 3de  Coalitieoorlog, een veldslag die bekend is als De Slag bij Ulm of Capitulatie van Ulm. Aannemelijk is dat hij rijdt op zijn paard Marengo. Op de klok staat de inscriptie: "Honneur au courage malheureux" en "Capitulation d'Ulm".  Napoleon heeft de veldslag overwonnen en brengt 'eer aan ongelukkige moed'. Interessante detailleringen zijn bijvoorbeeld dat  de poten als kanonnen zijn weergeven, Napoleon is in keizers-kostuum en salueert met hoed, een adelaar, in het basement zien we o.a. zwaarden, trommel, trompet. .

Na de overwinning op de Coalitie (Groot Brittannië, Oostenrijk, Zweden, Rusland die een coalitie vormen om het Franse Keizerrijk omver te werpen) in Ulm, volgt de inname van Napoleon van het Habsburgse Rijk met de inname  van de hoofdstad Wenen.

De klok heeft een 8-daags uurwerk met half uur slagwerk op een bel.  Het thema, De Slag bij Ulm, is aangegeven op de kast.  Vuurvergulde kast en ornameneten. HxBxD 53x33x13 cm.

Sculpture clock, the glory of Napoleon on his rearing horse, the Capitulation of Ulm, Louis Philippe ca. 1850.

A clock shows a sculpture of Napoleon, sitting on his silver-plated horse and symbolizing his victory in 1805 during the Third Coalition War, a battle known as the Battle of Ulm or the Capitulation of Ulm. It is likely that he is riding on his horse Marengo. The clock bears the inscription: "Honneur au courage malheureux" and "Capitulation d'Ulm". Napoleon has won the battle and brings 'honor to unfortunate courage'. Interesting details include the legs being depicted as cannons, Napoleon is in emperor's costume and saluting with a hat, an eagle, in the base we see swords, drum, trumpet, etc. 

After the victory over the Coalition (Great Britain, Austria, Sweden, Russia forming a coalition to overthrow the French Empire) in Ulm, Napoleon takes the Habsburg Empire with the capture of the capital Vienna.

The clock has an 8-day movement with half-hourly striking on a bell. The theme, The Battle of Ulm, is indicated on the case. Fire-gilded case and ornaments. HxWxD 53x33x13 cm.
