INTRODUCTION

Richard Redding Antiques Ltd, one of Switzerland’s leading antique and fine art galleries, specialises in the finest French and other European clocks, bronzes, furniture and silver. The gallery also holds a wide variety of antique light fittings, glass, porcelain, paintings and sculpture. The stock is continually changing and in recent years has broadened its field to include Chinese and Russian antiques.

The gallery has a simple buying policy based on one main principle, namely quality. To this end all pieces that the gallery acquires are very carefully chosen, firstly on grounds of authenticity, then on condition and rarity and sometimes purely for their sheer beauty. Each work of art is expertly researched, aided by information from our own extensive library and as well as through consultation with various experts in their own specialised field. All items are professionally photographed and thus a full colour illustration, a detailed description as well as a written guarantee accompanies every purchase. Our restorers, who work to the highest standards, ensure that every item is presented in perfect museum quality condition. We also take pride in packing all works of art ourselves and use a world-wide door-to-door service to ensure swift and safe delivery. The gallery is also pleased to give written insurance valuations on items you may already own.

Richard Redding was born in England and opened his own antique business in Zurich in 1977. The gallery website was launched in 2002 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Richard Redding Antiques Ltd, Zurich. It is continually updated to become an essential reference point for clients, academics and for all those with a passion for fine quality antiques. We hope that you will enjoy browsing through these pages and in turn would welcome your comments.

There is a saying that there is a right time for everything and so having reached sixty and after dealing in antiques for well over half my life, I feel that now is the right time to make a few changes to my business. From 1st January 2013 the gallery will relocate from our Zurich premises at Strehlgasse 9, CH-8001 and instead will be run from Dorfstrasse 30, 8322, Madetswil, Switzerland, where there is a large purpose built exhibition space and a big welcome to all.

World economic factors, exchange rates as well as the power of the Internet have all contributed to this decision. For instance since the recent launch of our new website the number of enquiries have significantly increased and so I feel that this is the way forward. Although the Zurich gallery, which was opened in 1986, is to close, the business will continue to operate in exactly the same way but from another venue. I will still be trading in some of history’s finest quality objects and will continue to offer the same quality service as before.

Everyone reaches a crossroads in their lives. I intend to take the path forward with this new and exciting venture. In fact working from my new venue offers greater opportunity to spend more time with my clients and to visit further flung corners in search of quality stock. The gallery will still be exhibiting at TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair) at Maastricht.

As far as the business is concerned, little will change except for the postal address. Otherwise the website, email address, phone numbers etc. will remain the same. This is a positive step forward and so I very much look forward to you visiting my website at www.richardreddingantiques.com, or www.reddingantiques.ch, alternatively by contacting me via email, phone, text and fax or seeing me in person at the new gallery space, Maastricht or London.

Your support, enthusiasm and appreciation as well as my love of quality antiques has provided constant pleasure. So I end with a word of thanks and a welcome to the future.
